On the other hand, excellent reading advocates and experts in Beijing are invited for a visit to schools in Liangshan of Sichuan and Leishan of Guizhou, where they would give lectures on reading, encourage teenagers to read books, especially good ones and in a wise manner, donate books and video courses of charity reading, with the aim of building a palace of knowledge for children and creating a pro-reading environment in schools. The campaign is aimed at delivering social love for child education, caring for teenagers’ health and growth, and encouraging, through reading education, children in poverty-stricken areas including Liangshan of Sichuan and Leishan of Guizhou to form enthusiasm for reading and to cultivate scientific thinking, as well as improving their intelligence and ambitions in life through reading.

Weiping Tan, vice director of International Poverty Reduction Center in China delivered a speech at the educational charity campaign to promote teenager reading launched by the China Hi-Tech Group

Weiping Tan, vice director of International Poverty Reduction Center in China, said, since the 18th National Congress, on the path to build a moderately prosperous society in all aspects, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, has adopted the strategy of precision poverty reduction and alleviation which have been taken as an eminent weak point and bottom-line objective, and achieved the best results for the past six years of fight for poverty reduction. Students in poverty-stricken areas are not as fortunate as students from the Beijing Bayi School or similar schools who enjoy abundant reading material. Firstly, they have little or inconvenient access to books and Internet; secondly, there is a lack of reading habit. An educational charity campaign to promote teenager reading, co-launched by the China Hi-Tech Group and the Leading Group for Beijing Reading Season - Shuxiang China, went to severely poverty-stricken areas including Liangshan of Sichuan and Leishan of Guizhou, in an effort to open a window in the minds of teenagers there so that the light of wisdom could shine onto them, and to encourage students to find their passion in life through reading and fight for the passion.
